Software Solution

Ticketing and Revenue Management System

Online Ticketing and Revenue Management system (OTRMS), handles all aspects of ticketing and related activities for a transport company having more than 15000 buses. This software can handle any size of fleet and is designed to maintain information about multi-location setup.

'OTRMS' is developed using Oracle database. It provides multi-location support. This system is capable of keeping information about multiple ticketing agents and multiple users for each agent. The system ensures 'role based' access to each individual, thus preventing unauthorized access to any part of the system.

Main functionality of the system is ticket reservation, cancellation, and modification and other revenue related functions. Apart from these functions the system also caters to related activities, Printing of passenger lists for each bus, blocking and release of seats in a

service, temporary blocking of booking for a service and also maintaining and releasing different quotas as may be defined from time to time. The system is also defined to take care of temporal aspects of fares, which may change from time to time.

The scope of this system covers defining the type of buses, routes, stages, and stage fares and also modality of revenue sharing between different transport companies.

OTRMS provides special facilities for enforcing booking timings directly through the system. The system also allows online monitoring of the ticketing booking and cash collection at each booking window. It generates reports for keeping track of revenue collection at each window, location and also the number of blank tickets used at any given point of time or during a given time interval.

As of today this system is used to book more than 1,000,000 tickets per year for last 4 years without any maintenance requirements and is being extended for WEB accesses. Total efforts in developing the system were around 6 person years.
